New WhatsApp feature lets you quickly switch voice calls to video calls

The upcoming new feature of WhatsApp will allow users to quickly switch from voice calls to video calls without disconnecting the ongoing call.

WhatsApp is eagerly on a spree as the instant messaging app is continuously rolling out new features to delight users. Recently WhatsApp released the Delete for everyone feature and text status and lots of more. But, it seems like it is not done yet and WhatsApp is planning to bring more features in it to delight users. WhatsApp is reportedly planning to bring a payment option to the platform and additionally introduce WhatsApp for business app.

WhatsApp is already testing these features and according to a new report, WhatsApp is also developing a new feature which lets you quickly switch from voice to video calls without disconnecting or stopping the currently ongoing call.

According to the website, the messaging service will release an Android update which will bring a new button on the calling screen allowing users to switch from voice call to video call quickly, without stopping or disconnecting the currently ongoing call.

WABetaInfo posted to Twitter on Thursday to reveal that the upcoming feature has been spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.17.163 version. The feature will also allow the recipient to reject the video call if he or she wants.

Additionally, WhatsApp is also testing another feature that allows users to mute a video directly. Apart from this, the group is also working on another feature which lets users to record voice messages without the need of holding the microphone icon.

In July, WhatsApp announced that over 1 billion people around the globe use the messaging service daily. Company also said that it had 1.3 billion active users monthly and over 55 billion messages were sent every day using the app.

In the meantime, WhatsApp is rumoured to be working on a dedicated app for iPad users.
